The start of the story
That night, Rusty the fox and Spike the hedgehog were camping in a tent outside Rusty’s den for the very first time. They lay on their tummies, poked their noses out, and counted the stars. Spike counted to twenty, lost his place, and started over. High in the oak tree sat Hootie the owl, who never sleeps at night. Suddenly something flashed and fell between the ferns with a soft clink. Rusty and Spike looked at each other, and then they ran to see what it was.
