The start of the story
In spring, when the nights get short, Hootie the owl invited her friends to a very special concert. “Let’s meet in the clearing before dawn,” she said. “The concert starts before the sun comes up.” “Before dawn?” groaned Toby the bear. “But that’s still nighttime!” “And who’s going to play?” asked Rusty the fox. “You’ll see. Or rather, you’ll hear,” said the owl, winking from behind her glasses. Hoppy the bunny didn’t say a word, but his long ears quivered with curiosity. He rarely spoke, even though he heard more than anyone.
