The start of the story
Rusty the fox had a favorite rock by the stream: flat, smooth and warm from the sun. On sunny mornings he sat on it, dipped his paws in the cool water and counted the little silver fish. The water murmured a merry song under his paws. But one morning, the rock was gone! The stream had spread out wide and grown as still as a pond, and the rock had vanished somewhere under the water.
