The start of the story

Autumn in the forest was golden and smelled of mushrooms. From morning till night, Toby the bear did nothing but eat. For breakfast he munched blackberries, for lunch acorns and beechnuts, and for supper a little bit of honey. “Toby, you’re eating enough for three!” laughed Rusty the fox. “Not for three, for the whole winter,” Toby answered with his mouth full. “I’m going to sleep soon.” “To sleep? But it’s only the afternoon,” said Rusty, surprised.
