The start of the story
Rusty the fox loved to run. When he dashed through the forest, his striped scarf fluttered behind him like a pennant. A pennant is a small, colorful flag that dances in the wind. “Who can get to the old oak first?” called Rusty one morning. Hoppy the bunny, Spike the hedgehog, Toby the bear and Croaky the frog lined up on the path right away. Hootie the owl perched on a low branch to be the judge. “On your marks… get set… go!” she hooted.
