The start of the story
Spike the hedgehog loved everything fast: the wind, slides and races to the garden gate. So when he got a red bike for his birthday, he jumped for joy. A bell gleamed on the handlebars, a little basket hung at the front, and there were no training wheels at all. “Just like the big kids!” cried Spike, and he rang the bell so loudly that two magpies flew out of a tree. “Let’s go! Right now! Fastest in the world!” Dad smiled under his mustache. “Helmet first, then the park,” he said.
