Hootie's New Home

Hootie's New Home

There’s no room left for even one more book in Hootie the owl’s hollow. Her friends help with the move, and unfamiliar neighbors are waiting at her new place.

The start of the story

Hootie the owl lived in a small hollow in an old pine tree, and she had lots and lots of books. They stood on shelves, lay under the bed and were piled in towers right up to the ceiling. On Wednesday, when she brought home one more, a book about the stars, the old pine creaked sadly. “I know, I know,” sighed Hootie, patting the wall. “We’ve run out of room.” That very evening she found a new home: a roomy hollow in a beech tree above a stream, on the other side of the forest. There was space for a hundred shelves, and a round window where the moon peeked in.
