The start of the story
It was the loveliest evening of the summer. In the meadow beyond the forest, Spike the hedgehog was playing with his friends. Rusty the fox was blowing soap bubbles, and Croaky the frog was trying to catch them. Spike’s mom was sitting on a blanket with his tiny little sister, who was reaching for the butterflies and laughing out loud. The sky over the forest was turning golden, and crickets were chirping in the grass. “It’s a shame this evening has to end,” sighed Spike. “I wish it could last forever.”
